The Roots N Blues festival in Columbia, MO, was founded in 2007. The event is a three-day, multi-genre festival that will take place October 7-9 at Stephens Lake Park in Columbia, Missouri. It will feature dozens of artists.

Tanya Tucker

Several years back, Tanya Tucker was a fourteen-year-old country music sensation. Her career was launched when she recorded her demo for a record label. Her debut album was released in 1972, and she quickly went on to be a major country artist. The album was distributed by Capitol Records.

In the early 1990s, Tucker had a string of eight top-ten country hits, with two number-one singles. The first was “Delta Dawn,” written by Donna Fargo. The song was one of the last songs to reach the top of the country chart before the turn of the century.

After a long period of silence, Tucker re-entered the music scene with a new album called While I’m Livin’. She sang several of her classics, including “I Love Music” and “Rain on the Mountain.” Her lyrics were usually penned by adult songwriters, but her raspy vocals gave her a wistful, wise air.

Her lyrics focused on family, heartbreak, grief, and love. In 1994, Tucker’s hit “Hangin’ In” peaked at number five on the Billboard Hot Country Singles Chart. She ranked number twenty on the CMT’s 40 Greatest Women of Country Music list in 2002.

Female-focused lineup

Having women on a festival lineup is a great way to promote gender equality. However, some festival organizers have not always done it well. If you are considering attending a festival, it’s a good idea to check the website and official ticket exchange to make sure there are tickets available.
