Safety and Security at Roots N Blues Festival
Whether you’re attending the Roots N Blues Festival for the first time or you’re a fan returning for another year, you’ll want to be aware of the safety and security rules in place at this event. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask. The staff at the event will be glad to help.
Bag check
During the Roots N Blues Festival, festivalgoers can expect to go through a bag check. Bags will be searched for alcohol and sharp objects. Fans are also encouraged to bring their own chairs to sit in during the event.
The bag check will be at Millennium Park. In addition, the Columbia Police Department will be on site during the event. If you have questions or problems, ask a security guard. The festival will be held on 50 acres of Stephens Lake Park, near downtown Columbia.
Roots N Blues will feature artists from rock ‘n’ roll, country, pop, and blues. The event will take place over three days.
In addition, Roots N Blues will feature female-led acts. The festival has announced an all-female lineup for 2020. The event will also return to Stephens Lake Park in 2021.
The festival’s new owner, Trio Presents, LLC, has taken steps to increase safety. This year, the Roots N Blues festival will partner with the Columbia Police Department. The festival is also operated by Chase Security. The security company specializes in large events.
Parking for patrons with disabilities
Organizers of the Roots N Blues Festival have done their part to make this year’s festival as accessible as possible. Although there are many obstacles to overcome, the event does offer several amenities to patrons with disabilities. In addition to the obvious parking for patrons with disabilities, there is also a sandbox, climbing wall, and a family fun zone.
To access the ADA viewing platform, patrons will need to purchase a special ticket. This is available at the main entrance to the festival. It will allow you to view the RBC stage through an elevated platform. The same ticket will allow you to access the wheelchair platform section, as well.
The viewing platforms are designed to provide a great view of the stages. However, if you are attending the event during a busy time, you may have trouble getting a seat. Fortunately, stewards are stationed on each platform to help you get the best possible view.
On-site camping options
Fortunately, the organizers of the Roots N Blues Festival have provided a few on-site camping options for visitors to take advantage of. All of these are fun, safe, and the best part is that they are all within walking distance of the main stage.
The biggest draw of camping is that you can take in the scenery and see the stars at night without having to deal with traffic and parking. The campground is located on the grounds of the Beaumont And District Agricultural Society, a nonprofit organization that manages the site.
The festival provides washrooms and portable toilets. However, you will not find many amenities, including showers, potable water, or electrical hookups.
The site boasts about a dozen full-hookup RV sites. If you are looking to stay dry, you can also opt to book one of the two hundred dry camping spots.
The event has a number of other attractions, including a VIP bar on the Agape Deck, which includes a view of the main stage. A limited number of family camping passes are available, too. You can also purchase single-day tickets a few months before the event.
Rules
Whether you are a veteran of the festival or a first time attendee, there are certain rules for safety and security at Roots N Blues. These rules will be enforced by the Columbia Police Department and private security personnel.
Alcohol is not allowed in the festival grounds. There are no pets or outside liquids permitted. If you are bringing alcohol to the festival, it will be confiscated at the gate.
The festival has a “fan code of conduct” that attendees are required to follow. If you violate this policy, you may be evicted from the venue without a refund. You must also comply with all emergency procedures, which include the use of a metal detector.
You can also get a list of prohibited items at the bag check. If you have any concerns about your safety or the safety of your friends and family, you can ask a member of the festival staff for help.
