Top 5 things not to do at this year’s festival

-Jennifer Firestone, Roots N Blues Intern

Well folks, we’re less than a week away from the festival, and here at RNB headquarters, we’re pumped. We want to make sure you have the most incredible weekend of food, friends and most of all, great music. So, we compiled a list of all the things you should not do at this year’s festival. Avoid these five things, and you’re sure to have an unforgettable three days.

1. Wear SUPER trendy, but SUPER uncomfortable shoes.

Listen, Stephens Lake Park is 116 acres. It’s not flat, and unless you’re planning on staying in one spot the entire time (if that one spot is by the food, then I don’t blame you), you’re going to be doing some walking. Let me set the scene for you: Band of Horses is playing “The Funeral,” and you’re literally sobbing because you’ve always wanted to hear that song played live. BUT, you are also sobbing because your feet hurt in those brand new stilettos you got on sale. Just don’t do it okay? Don’t ruin the best four minutes of your life.

 2. Forget to drink water

With all the local beer you could ever hope for, it’s easy to crack open cold one after cold one. After all, what’s a Big Daddy’s pulled pork sandwich without a Snapper from Log Boat? Just remember what your parents told you right after you turned 21: “For each beer you drink, have a glass of water!” They weren’t wrong. The mid-Missouri weather is anything but predictable, and if you don’t want to pass out in potentially 80, 90 or 100-degree weather, keep the water flowin’.

3. Forget to set up your RFID wristband

Worried about misplacing or losing your wallet? Save that worry for another festival! We know how inconvenient it is to carry around a wallet full of cash and cards, so we decided to go cashless! Set up your RFID wristband before you get to the festival, so when you need to get your grilled cheese fix from The Big Cheeze, you can pay without the hassle. But you’ll want to set it up online first! If you have more questions, check out our cashless info page.

4. Leave your blankets or chairs at home

Even though we’ve covered the whole comfy-shoes thing,  there might be a time during the day that you’d like to enjoy some music and barbeque while sitting down. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets and get cozy at the festival!

5. Be “that” person.

We’re all here for a good time, good music, good beer, and good food. What’s not to love? Enjoy your day(s) in the park, and save the bad attitude for the office on Monday. Nobody likes a party pooper.
