The Record Collector
The Record Collector consists of a dozen or so of the most talented musicians from across the state, including the legendary Rich Smith, the incomparable Barry Hibdon, and the phenomenal Shannon Diaz. These musicians have come from a vast array of musical genres, with their “Rhythm & Soul Revue,” paying tribute to classic soul artists from the 1960s and 1970s including Sam Cooke, Sly and the Family Stone, Curtis Mayfield, Otis Redding, Irma Thomas, the Four Tops, Eddie Floyd, Clarence Carter, Booker T & The MGs, James Jamerson, Rufus and Carla Thomas, and most everything from Stax Records. The result is a fantastic, high-energy sound that will move your soul and your feet. This ensemble comes complete with a horn section, percussion section, keyboards, some soulful female voices that hit harmonies & melodies that will lift your spirits. In addition to all of this, the show is polished off with a multimedia visual background complete with live cameras as well as video footage from the era itself, produced by Mr. Videology, Daryle Bascom.
