Farmer Jason

Farmer Jason

In 2003, singer-songwriter Jason Ringenberg, who was touring 200 dates a year, decided to make a sing-along CD for his two preschool-aged daughters while he was performing globally for his solo career. Within a year, Ringenberg’s family-oriented sing-along CD, which included songs like “The tractor goes chug, chug chug,” made “one of the Top 5 kids’ CDs of 2003,” according to Disney’s magazine Family Fun. In no time, Jason Ringenberg became children’s music character, Farmer Jason, performing zany yet oddly informative songs set against rock and country rhythms. Singing about topics like farm animals and nature, Farmer Jason draws sell-out crowds from Osh Kosh to Oslo doing children’s concerts in venues ranging from schools and libraries to punk rock clubs. Raised on a hog farm in Illinois, and living with his family on a farm in Tennessee, writing and performing roots-oriented songs with his guitar and barnyard attire come natural to him.

Before becoming Farmer Jason, Ringenberg started his career in the mid-1980s with Jason and the Scorchers, and alternative country band that fused together punk rock and country. In 1999, when Ringenberg went solo, the London Times called him “one of the most dynamic live performers of his generation.” Still dynamic today, Farmer Jason ranges from high-energy country sing-along songs to jazz. An entertainer, talented musician, and comedian, Farmer Jason is a favorite among the little ones.
