Blues in Schools

For the third year, the Festival and title sponsor, Boone County National Bank, are bringing Blues in Schools back to Grant Elementary.

The Blues in Schools program brings guitarist T.J. Wheeler to Grants as “an artists in residence” the week prior to the Festival. Wheeler will present at assemblies, talk to classes and work with a core group of students daily. His work with the students will culminate in an ensemble concert at the Festival with Wheeler.

Wheeler has played guitar since age 12, when the Beatles and the Rolling Stones inspired him. He co-founded the Blues Bank Collective in 1985 and has since worked with students all over the world.
